Every Friday evening, from 18:00 hours, we have our ‘club night’. Club nights are held throughout the year. Depending on the weather, the activities vary.
April until the end of September is our bowling season, each year. During this time, weather permitting, our club nights consist of having a friendly roll up on the green with other members, food and drink. These evenings are an opportunity to meet other members, practice bowling, have fun, lots of laughter and an excellent social gathering.
From October until the end of March, which is our closed season, we still enjoy our club nights. We have a variety of activities to keep us amused. These include:
indoor mini skittles
darts competitions
race nights
bingo
quizzes.
In October, we will be starting our winter, weekly bingo sessions. These will be held each Thursday afternoon, one until three. Weekly bingo sessions have cash prizes and an opportunity to buy tickets for our ‘superb Christmas raffle’.
At each club night and social gatherings, Lesley, our catering manager, provides food, at a minimal cost of approximately £6.00 per person. The food varies each week and can include chilli, cottage pie, burgers, hot dogs, ploughman’s, chips, jacket potatoes or a buffet. Our fully stocked bar is also open for drinks.
Tony, our bar manager, ensures we have a fully stocked bar selling a wide variety of soft and
alcoholic drinks. We are also extremely fortunate to offer draught lager, beer and cider, Guinness, gin, vodka, whisky, bottled beers, brandy, J20, orange juice, tonic and soda water, lemonade and coke. We also have a small selection of non-alcoholic beer and Guinness, at incredibly competitive prices.
All club nights, social events and bingo are only available to members of the Den
Bowling Club. Membership of the club includes full playing, associate, and life members. Associate members can enjoy all social activities, including cash prize bingo, etc and club facilities when the club is open.
Full membership costs £80.00 per year and associate membership costs £10.00 per
year.
